Skype does not offer an account termination tool or link like the ones you’ll find on most sites and services, however, deleting an account is indeed possible but the process is a little bit time consuming and also complicated.
The first thing that you should do is remove all your personal details linked to your profile such as name, email, and phone number from your Skype profile to prevent people from finding you in the Skype directory.
If you want to erase your personal information simply login to your account, then go to your profile page, navigate to the “Personal Information” section and click “Edit”, now remove your personal information by typing in random characters in the fields, and click “Save”. Keep in mind that you must write something in each field, because empty fields cannot and will not be saved.
Now if you want to delete your Skype name from the Skype directory as well, you will have to contact Skype Customer Service directly and ask them to remove your Skype name permanently from the site. Don’t forget that it can take up to 30 days until your Skype name is entirely removed from the directory, so please be patient while you wait.
If you want to use the second option to delete your Skype account simply go to the Skype Customer Service contact page, log in to your account, get in touch with a member from the support team via chat, and ask him or her to close your account as quickly as possible.
