If you’ve been looking for the “log out” link or button within the Facebook Messenger app on your Android device, then you’ve probably already noticed that it is nowhere to be found, in fact, it doesn’t even exist. Why? Because at the moment Facebook does not provide any options that allows users to easily sign out from the messenger app on an Android phone or tablet.
However, and although Facebook apparently doesn’t want you to logout from the messenger app, there is indeed a way to do it, and it’s actually something that’s very easy to do if you pay close attention and follow the steps below:
How to Logout of Facebook Messenger on Android
- Open your Android device and go to “Settings”.
- Once you’re in the settings menu navigate to “Apps”.
- In the applications manager menu scroll down until you find Facebook Messenger, and when you do tap on it.
- Now tap on the “Disable” button at the top left of your screen.
- And then tap on “UNINSTALL UPDATES”.
It’s that simple! Now when you open the Messenger app on your Android device you’ll see the login page instead of your list of contacts. And, you’ll also see a pop up window at the bottom of your screen that says “App Update”, along with a convenient red button that says “UPDATE”, which you can tap on to automatically update your Facebook Messenger app right away, if you want to of course.
Now you can log in to Facebook Messenger using another Facebook account or another phone number on the same Android device that you were previously using. If you’re still having problems and can’t log out, make sure to contact us and I’ll personally try to help you out as soon as I get your message.
