Today I’m going to show you how to find and access PayPal’s classic site.
Even though PayPal removed the “Classic Site” button from PayPal.com, there’s still an easy way to get back into the old site. Find out how below.
You may need to access the old site to view and download your transaction history older than 3 years, or maybe you’re an eBay seller who needs to access very specific information and features that aren’t currently available on the new site.
Although I really love PayPal’s new design and user interface, I still find myself going back to the classic site very often, because there are some things that just can’t be done on the new version of PayPal.com.
If you’ve been a long time user of this popular online payments service, then you’ve probably made hundreds, maybe even thousands of purchases through the site.
And if you’re anything like me, you probably didn’t save your transaction information for purchases made more than 3 years ago, so now you can’t retrieve that information whenever you want or need to.
I think PayPal should always grant users access to transaction history older than three years, because sometimes you buy (products and services) stuff that can be accessed or downloaded as many times as you want as long as you have the transaction ID of your purchase.
So if you can’t refer to old transaction data such as IDs and dates, for example, you risk losing access to lots of products and services that you’re probably very fond of.
It almost happened to me a few days ago when I was trying to find an old transaction ID dating back to 2010.
However, actually getting the information I needed through the new PayPal.com was virtually impossible, in fact, it is not possible, because on the new site you can only get your statements for the last three years.
Going through this situation forced me to find out how to access PayPal’s classic site, and that turned out to be a good thing, because now I can help other users get back into their old PayPal accounts whenever they need to.
Also, I’ve heard some people say that the new site is not as user friendly as the old one, and they may be right. Although the new site looks better and has a great user interface, it’s probably not as easy to understand and navigate as the classic PayPal.com.
If you’re trying to access PayPal’s classic site because you hate the new interface or because you need to get detailed information on purchases made more than 3 years ago, we’ve got you covered, just follow the instructions below and you’ll be able to find what you need in just a couple of seconds.
To switch to classic view, this is what you have to do:
How to Access PayPal Classic Site in 2018?
- Go to https://history.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_history.
- Enter your username and password.
- Click “Login”.
- Voila!
If you’re already logged in, then all you have to do is click on the link and you’ll be automatically redirected to the classic dashboard that you’re so used to.
Now that you’ve accessed PayPal’s classic site, you can get transaction information for purchases made more than three years ago and access unique features that are still not available on the new site.
As seen on the image below, you can go as far back as the year 1800 and beyond, but I’m sure that won’t be necessary because PayPal didn’t exist back then.
Some people want to access the classic site simply because they hate the new one, they were accustomed to how things worked on the old site, and they felt nothing needed to change.
Personally, I think that the new site looks better, and in time it will seem a lot easier to use as well, PayPal just needs to allow users to easily access what they need, when they need it, and everything will be fine.
I know, some features may not be there yet, but I’m sure they’ll add them at some point, you just gotta be patient.
In the meantime, keep using the old site, which is still up and running smoothly. And don’t worry about anything, if PayPal decides to kill the classic site completely, we’ll let you know.
