Learn How to Delete Your WeChat Account Permanently

Removing a WeChat account is not as easy as you would think. I used to have an account, but to be honest with you, I got tired of using the service, it just didn’t fulfill my expectations. Anyway to terminate my WeChat account I had to follow these steps:




First you need to log into your account. If you can’t access your account, then you’ll need to recover your lost password via email through the following page (note: copy and paste the URL in your favorite web browser to get started with the password recovery process): http://support.wechat.com/getpassword

However, if you signed up with your phone number, you can recover your password to log in to WeChat by clicking on “Forgot Your Password?” – “Log in via SMS” on the WeChat login page.

After accessing WeChat open the app on your device, navigate to Settings, tap on General, click on Clear Chat History, and then click on the Clear Chat History button at the bottom of the page one more time to confirm that you really want to delete all your conversations.

Now log in to your email account (you’ll have to access the email account linked to your WeChat account obviously) and send a message to the following email address:
support@wechat.com.

In the subject line of the email enter “I want to delete my account” and don’t forget to include your WeChat ID. And, in the body of your message explain why you want to close your account and kindly ask support to please help you by removing your account completely from their system.

Then delete the app from your device and you’re done.
